History
Originally trained as a baker in Brittany, Richard has been in England since 1988 and is now very much an Anglophile. With 30 years experience in the kitchen, baking, consulting and teaching behind him, Richard came to Bath in 2005 to open The Bertinet Kitchen cookery school. As well as instilling passion through his teaching in the school, Richard works as a consultant for major manufacturers developing speciality products throughout the industry.
The Bertinet Kitchen
Richard attracts people from all over the world to participate in his sell out classes at The Bertinet Kitchen Cookery School. An impressive roster of guest chefs come to teach with Richard including Angela Hartnett, Clare Smyth, Mark Hix, Atul Kochhar, Michael Caines, Valentine Warner, Nathan Outlaw, Bruno Loubet and Florence Knight.

Bakery
The Bertinet Bakery was launched in 2007, opening on Saturday mornings above the cookery school with everything made downstairs by hand on a Friday night.
In January 2012 the first Bertinet Bakery and Café opened in the centre of Bath selling the full range of breads, pastries, viennoiserie, tarts and traiteur. There are currently two Bertinet retail outlets in Bath. Bertinet bread is also available from some of the best local farm shops and delis and the bakery supplies Waitrose supermarkets along with a select number of hotels, restaurants and pubs.
